Buried Alive

I’ve been a phantom

      this past month, I know.
     I’ve barely existed at all.
I’ve been buried alive.
I’ve filled my pockets with stones
     and waded into the current.

And now, I’ve returned
from the dead, dirt in my nails,
     lust in my retinas.

I have shape-shifted
     during my hibernation;
     I doubt you’ll recognize

my altered form.

I meant to write a short poem about how I haven’t blogged in a month, and it turned into something much more sinister than I intended. Probably because it’s raining outside and I just finished reading “Dover Beach” by Matthew Arnold.
Sorry for my absence, but you can’t say I didn’t warn you.
This semester has been busier than imaginable.
I’ve read more books than I’ve thought possible.
(currently on Nothing by Janne Teller, Arsenic and Old Lace by Joseph Kesselring, and A Study in Scarlet by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle)
I might put some reviews on here if I find the time.
Also, my best friend took our engagement photos. They’ll be uploaded here…sometime. Promise.

Wow, you're doing a triple-lit class semester? I commend you! Also, Nothing was a fantastic book. Incredibly crazy, but so good.

This semester has been ridiculous. I'm also taking Shakespeare, English Life and Lit II, and History of the English Language.
    But graduation is in sight!
