September Wrap-Up

events
I got resorted on Pottermore. It had apparently been a very long time since I was last on and they completely redid everything. I had the option to keep my original house (Ravenclaw), but I decided to get resorted to see if it had changed. And I got sorted into Gryffindor, which I think is only because there was a question about if I would tell Professor Flitwick about my friend cheating on a test and I said yes even though I probably wouldn’t, but none of the other answers worked either. I like Gryffindor, I just don’t see see myself as a particularly brave person. Also my Patronus is an adder, so the two really don’t go together. The other Gryffindors are going to treat me like the heir of Slytherin.
– I decorated my office(s), but they’re still not finished. I’m planning to post over my home office once it’s finished. I’m super excited about those bunny prints, though. I bought all three from CosmicPrint on Etsy and am totally in love.
– I SAW RELIENT K AND SWITCHFOOT IN CONCERT. It was amazing. My family bought me tickets for my birthday back in May. I hadn’t seen Relient K since 2010. They were my favorite band growing up, and I still love them a lot. They’re special to me. I’m a lesser fan of Switchfoot, but they were good, too…except I think all of their songs sound kind of the same? Anyway, I had a great time, even though I don’t normally like concerts.
– I’m still slowly plotting a story for NaNoWriMo. I actually named my main characters this week! I have no idea if I’ll even have time to write this year, but I’m having fun coming up with the story and characters.

thoughts
People on campus (including Deacon) abbreviate the Havener Center as “the Havener.” This does not make grammatical sense. It’s like abbreviating “the blue jacket” as “the blue.” However, they can’t abbreviate it as “The Center” because there’s another building in town called that.
Why don’t they just say “Havener,” you ask? I have no idea.
– I hate it when people say “thanks in advance.” Like…what if I don’t want to do what you’re asking me to do? It seems pretty presumptuous. I like my free will, okay? You can thank me after I decide to go along with whatever you want me to do.
– I respond to everyone enthusiastically because I never know who they are. I tend to walk with my head down and if someone comes up to me my initial reaction is to greet them like they’re a long-lost friend because most of the time I have no idea who they are. I didn’t realize I did this until earlier this week when Deacon found me walking on campus. I’m basically Jane in The Lizzie Bennet Diaries.

– I think it’s silly that there’s a “right way” to hold a pencil. All of our hands are different sizes! It makes sense that it would vary from person to person. Hmph!
– Don’t post your sad stuff on FB if it’s just going to make someone else’s day a little bit worse. It’s fine if it’s a major life event or something serious, but if you just see something sucky happen and there’s nothing you could do, don’t share that crap with Facebook. Don’t make someone else’s day unnecessarily worse.

So tell me how your September was! What movies did I miss out on? What’s your House/Patronus on Pottermore? How do you hold your pencil? Do you tell people “thanks in advance”? Let me know!
