Early October Updates

I’ve been writing this post since September but never got the chance to finish it. Sorry about that!
events
– Rex visited parents. In our hometown! We had been putting this off because he’s not the best around other animals, but it went pretty well.
My sister-in-law got married! And I wish English had a word for the spouse of your spouse’s sibling. Because other languages do, and we don’t. Anyway, Tori & Tony were married and it was so beautiful.

So, I might kind of like coffee? It came upon me suddenly, because as you may recall I’ve always hated coffee. I hated the taste, and it always made me feel sick afterwards. And now I’m kind of turning into an addict.

– I’ve lost seven nine pounds! I haven’t been able to keep up with my Fitbit goals very well now that school has started, so the weight loss has kind of tapered off, but I’m less than five pounds away from reaching my goal.

I tried yoga and really liked it. Deacon’s parents go on Saturday mornings and invited me to come with them and I found it to be really relaxing. Much breathing. Such wow.
thoughts
– Star Wars order. Okay, so I started watching a new Youtube channel called SuperCarlinBros which is basically a knockoff Vlogbrothers about movies (mainly Pixar). In one of their videos, they pose the question over the correct order to show Star Wars to your children (excluding the sequels that haven’t been released yet). So you’re probably familiar with the debate of whether to watch them in the order they were released (4, 5, 6, 1, 2, 3) or chronologically. Growing up, I watched them mostly chronologically, although it was more like half of 1, 3, 2, half of 4, 5, 6.
This video discusses the idea that the best order to introduce Star Wars to someone is in this order: 4, 5, 2, 3, 6. AND I THINK IT IS BRILLIANT. You get all the action and mystery of the original movies, and you still get the big reveal at the end of Empire Strikes Back. But then you take a break and episodes 2 and 3 essentially function like a big flashback that explains how that happened, and then at the end of 3 you find out about the other major reveal. And then you are fully prepared to enter the conclusion. Now, you completely cut off Episode One, which means no Darth Maul, but I think the only important point you miss out on is that Anakin made C3PO, but that detail isn’t really essential to the plot. What do you guys think?
Levi is a Hufflepuff! Okay, so I read Fangirl in July and pretty much completely loved it and Levi became one of my favorite characters of all time. OF ALL TIME. I started following Rainbow Rowell on Twitter (excellent decision) and last month she was sorting her characters into houses to raise funds to help with the Syrian refugee crisis. And she sorted Levi into Hufflepuff.
And you know what? I THINK THAT’S AWESOME. Because Levi is a Hufflepuff. If you read the book, you will have a hard time disagreeing with it. But he is also an excellent and loving person. Even though I’m not a Hufflepuff, I think their house is seriously misunderstood, so I was pleased with this reveal.
(Also, a sort of Fangirl spin-off novel, Carry On, comes out next week!)
– GOOGLE LOGO WHYYYYYY
I hate the new sans-serif typeface. Ugh.

tv shows

The Royals (I’ve recently taken an interest in the British monarchy.)
Once Upon a Time (just the first few episodes. Meh.)
I’ve mainly been watching Youtube channels.

movies
Still Alice (loved it, though it’s not particularly enjoyable. I was crying literally the entire time.)
The Others (liked it.)
The Machinist (not sure how I felt.)

books
Wintergirls (it was okay.)
Throne of Glass (meh. I will probably write a ranting post about it someday.)

As always, tell me how your October is going! I’m sorry I missed September entirely, it just kind of slipped by. (I’m not complaining, though. It’s my least-favorite month.) Have you guys seen any good movies lately? HAVE YOU READ THE NIGHT CIRCUS? Which way do you prefer to watch Star Wars? Tell me all the things!
