10 books recently added to my tbr.

I kinda hate adding things to my tbr because I feel that it is a losing battle. It just gets bigger and bigger. I’m too slow a reader to make any kind of meaningful effect on it. But whenever I see someone raving about something, I want in on the magic. And my tbr shelf is a good way of keeping track of everything.

This week’s prompt is about a specific genre of books recently added to your tbr, but I find that my interests are too widespread to be able to do that well, so I’m going to list the 10 most recent books added. Enjoy! (and tell me if you’ve read any of these and if so, what you thought of them)

Today I’m linking up for a Top Ten Tuesday!
This week’s theme: 10 Books From X Genre That I’ve Recently Added To My TBR List

My theme: 10 books recently added to my tbr

Exit, Pursued by a Bear // E. K. Johnston
I mentioned a long time ago that I meant to read it when it came out but I never actually had it on my tbr. But then I saw it at the library last week and instantly checked it out. Just look at that cover. It’s so gorgeous.

The Girl With all the Gifts // M. R. Carey
I wasn’t really interested in this one until I saw the cover of the movie at Family Video. Then I looked at the synopsis and find out it’s about zombies? Yes please. (I hate zombie movies, but books are fine.)

Mouthful of Forevers // Clementine von Radics
I’m not sure where I saw this on Goodreads but I’ve been wanting to read more poetry and this caught my eye. I then went to read the title poem and fell in love. I’m really looking forward to more by this author.

Wires and Nerve, Vol. 2 // Marissa Meyer
I was hesitant about Vol. 1 but then loved it and need volume 2 in my life asap. I’ve always kinda underappreciated Iko, so I’m happy for a chance to explore her character in this format.

The Hate U Give // Angie Thomas
I initially thought this was all hype and wasn’t very interested, but then I saw review after review of praise, and with the current political climate, I feel like this is a book that must be read.

Good Night Stories for Rebel Girls // Elena Flavilli
I don’t have children, but a woman I work with has two daughters and mentioned that I might like this. From the illustrations I saw online, I think it will be both a beautiful and empowering read.

Release // Patrick Ness
I somehow still have not read a Patrick Ness book? I don’t know. I’m sorry.
Honestly, this one is purely based on the cover. Look at that cover. It’s gorgeous.
I’m admittedly a little turned off that it’s partly based on Judy Blume’s Forever (which I absolutely despised), but I’m willing to give it the benefit of the doubt.

We Are Okay // Nina LaCour
I’m interested in this after loving Everything Leads To You. I’m not big on this cover, but I’ve heard some good things and really want to see more from this author.

Eleanor Oliphant is Completely Fine // Gail Honeyman
I’m really not sure why this caught my eye but I like that it’s not YA. I’ve been trying to branch out into more mature books. The main character in this one sounds interesting. She’s described as being a bit offbeat socially, and I’m interested to see how that’s portrayed.

Ready Player One // Ernest Cline
I’m not really a gamer but I feel like reading this book is a rite-of-passage for every avid reader. Plus I think there’s a movie on the way?

Are any of these on your tbr?
If you’ve already read them, let me know what you think! (but no spoilers please)

  1. Great list! Ready Player One has been on my TBR a while now and I still haven’t picked it up. Ahhhh. The Hate U Give is a new addition to my TBR as well, and I just KNOW it’s going to be so powerful. I hope you get around to reading these!!

Thanks, Lefty. I hope I actually get around to reading them too. The way my tbr goes, though, it will probably be years. XD

I didn’t pick a genre either! I need to read so many of these like Ready Player One, Wires and Nerves #1, The Hate You Give, and You Are Okay. Hopefully we can both knock some of these off our TBR soon!

I hope so too! Wires & Nerve Vol 1 was so charming. I’m really looking forward to the second one. The only thing that I didn’t love about it was the blue color scheme of the illustrations, but I’m thinking the color might change by volume. We’ll see!

It seems that a lot of people loved Ready Player One, so I’m thinking I’ll put that higher on my priority list. =)
I hope I enjoy We Are Okay as much as Everything Leads to You! That one was so pleasant.

  5. Love your list! And don’t worry, you’re not alone. I haven’t read a Patrick Ness book yet either but feel like I need to. I really want to read The Hate U Give at some point.

Thanks, Jess! I’m glad I’m not alone. I know his books are dearly loved by a lot of people. And I own at least two of them, but somehow always pick up something different? Someday, though.

Mouthful of Forevers and Ready Player One are both excellent books. And what are you talking about, the cover of We Are Okay looks amazing! 😛

I wholeheartedly trust your book recommendations, but I think we have different tastes in what is considered aesthetically pleasing. XD

Ooh yes to the Second Volume of Wires & Nerve! I LOVED the first!! Well, I mean, of course. It’s Marissa Meyer after all. 😂 And I really really loved Release.😍 And also The Girl With All The Gifts! Although I constantly type The Girl With All The GIFS because I just kind of can’t help myself. 😂

(also omg it IS a losing battle with the TBR)
