#TheReadingQuest Reading Challenge

I’ve never done a reading challenge before because I’m notoriously slow and kind of an unpredictable reader. Sometimes I can get through a massive book in a day or two. Sometimes a month or two (as you’ll see Tuesday). You never really know. But when I heard about this challenge (via The Chronicles of Danielle), I had to join in. It just sounded so cute/doable/amazeballs. Plus there’s a prize…and though I have about a 0.263% chance of winning, I’m a pretty competitive person and goals = instant motivation.

The quest starts August 13 and ends September 10. You can sign up here.

You get to choose which character you want to be (the quest varies for each one!), and I chose the Knight (btw shoutout to  CW of Read, Think, Ponder for the adorable character designs!).

The First Book in a Series:
Half Bad by Sally Green

A Book with a Verb in its Title:
The Rest of Us Just Live Here by Patrick Ness

A Book with a Weapon on its Cover:
Ahsoka by E. K. Johnston
(lightsabers count as weapons, right?)

A Book with a Red Cover:
Forgive Me, Leonard Peacock by Matthew Quick

A Book that has a TV/Movie Adaptation:
The Girl with All the Gifts by M. R. Carey
or  A Monster Calls by Patrick Ness
(I checked out The Girl with All the Gifts from the library, but it’s pretty big, so it depends on how I feel)

These are optional but can earn you more points. I doubt I’ll get this far, but you never know!

Potions (a book by two or more authors):
Illuminae by Amie Kaufman and Jay Kristoff

Time Warp (a book set in the past or future):
Ready Player One by Ernest Cline

Expansion (a companion novel or short story):
The Short Second Life of Bree Tanner by Stephanie Meyer

Mini Game (a graphic novel, poetry collection or novella):
Lumberjanes, Vol. 3 by Noelle Stevenson
(this is on its way to the library for me)

Animal Companion (a book referencing an animal in the title):
We Are the Ants by Shaun David Hutchinson
or  The Female of the Species (if this counts)

Respawn (a book you previously DNFed):
Challenger Deep by Neal Shusterman

Grind (a book with 500+ pages):
Afterworlds by Scott Westerfeld

Multiplayer (buddy read a book):
I’ll probably be skipping this one!

Open World (read any book of your choice):
probably Lumberjanes Vol. 4 or Saga Vol. 7 because I’ve also already ordered those at the library

There’s also a whole EXP & HP system, so be sure to check out the original post for the rules on that! I think I’ll try keeping points, but I’m mainly concerned with finally getting through my TBR. All of my choices are books I’ve been meaning to read forever, with no rereads (except for Challenger Deep, which is a previous DNF).

Thanks to Aentee @Read at Midnight for coming up with this reading adventure! I’m really looking forward to it.  😀

Let me know if you’ll be participating in this!
If so, which character did you choose?
If not, have you ever done a reading challenge before?

This reading challenge looks so fun and I was going to participate but I’m starting my final year of high school next week and it’s going to be super hectic so I doubt I’ll have much time for reading!

Illuminae is INCREDIBLE – I hope you enjoy it! It took me awhile to get into but once I was past the 200 mark I was completely addicted to it! 🙂

Enjoy your books and good luck!

I hope your senior year goes well!! Remember to take time for yourself and for your friends & family. =)

I look forward to Illuminae. I feel like the only person in the world who hasn’t read it yet. I’ve been meaning to for ages.
